The company Fischer Panda GmbH was founded in Paderborn in 1977. The company was originally a marine construction design office, as well as being a marine service and import company. In 1982 spare parts for mobile refrigeration systems were also manufactured. The first generator was developed to supply electrical power to boats In 1986. Both the generator and diesel engine were water-cooled aand housed within a hermetically sealed capsule. The new generating set was smaller, lighter and more effective than the products produced up to that time. This laid the foundations for the company to gain a leading position on the market. In 1988 Icemaster Ltd was able to attain the rights from the leading competitors, Fischer Panda generators, located in Passau. This company co-operated with the internationally renowned BMW Marine Division. This gave rise to the new brand, Fischer Panda. Fischer Panda is still, by far, the leading manufacturer of sound-insulated generators that produce an electrical power source for boat and vehicles. The company has had a continual average growth of 20% for many years. The export sales of Panda generators were almost 80% in 2001. A proven chain of well-qualified distributors in over 36 countries guarantees that these sales are maintained. The distributors, for their part, supply recognised regional dealers, in order to guaranty the best possible customer service locally. The USA has the greatest turnover (almost 30%). An independent franchise has been located in Fort Lauderdale in Florida since 1997, which control distribution on the American continent; this includes Canada and South America, as well as 150 recognised dealers. A factory was built in Poland in 1992 to keep production costs low. This is presently a modern factory with over 4000 square metre floor space and 13.000 square metres surrounding area. Almost 200 extremely well qualified tradesmen, engineers and technicians, who work exclusively for Icemaster are employed at this factory fitted with modern machinery. A further 45 especially well qualified employees work at the main factory in Paderborn, where production is organised, prototypes are constructed and further developed. It also deals with development, distribution, marketing and despatch etc. The companys factory in Paderborn has 7,000 square metres building and 23,000 square metres of land. The company owns the complete complex.
