The Grandcell story began with the invention of the Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese (RAM) battery. by Professor Karl Kordesch in the late 1970’s. Grand Battery Technologies (GBT) was founded in 1995. and acquired the rights to manufacture RAM batteries at an advanced facility in Malaysia. Grand Battery Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd (GBTA) was established in 1998 to bring innovative portable and renewable energy products to the Australian marketplace. We are an Australian company backed by strong support from our Canadian, Chinese, European, Malaysian and South African counterparts.
