SoftSwitching Technologies in Battery Wholesale Directory

SoftSwitching Technologies is dedicated to creating solutions that help eliminate downtime caused by nuisance trips and dirty power. Through the use of patented technologies, SoftSwitching enables customers to understand and correct power problems, to maximize productivity and profit and deliver clean power to the manufacturing floor --with no batteries, no dangerous moving parts and no expensive software packages. We understand manufacturing and automation - and the critical role of clean power -- because we are manufacturers. All of our power quality products are designed, manufactured and supported by SoftSwitching Technologies. OUR PAST: SoftSwitching Technologies was founded in 1995 by Prof. Deepak Divan, who was associate director of the WEMPEC consortium at the University of Wisconsin. The company’s initial focus was strongly influenced by the power electronics research being conducted by Prof. Divan and his colleagues at WEMPEC. Early projects included state of the art, custom development for power electronics and motor drive companies. Through the development of these projects, a refined power control platform emerged. Then in 1995 -- as SST was working toward refining this new stable platform -- a ground-breaking study by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) was released. Prior to the release of this study, the electronics industry believed that short power quality events were caused by a complete interruption in the power flow. The “Distribution Power Quality Study” proved that assumption to be untrue. The study found that 96% of all power problems were “blips”-- voltage sags that last less than two seconds – not outages. Prof. Divan realized that SST could use its patented switching technology to create a new breed of power quality products that would directly address the needs identified in the EPRI study. In 1999, the company launched the first Dynamic Sag Corrector (DySC). This patented technology protects the sensitive microprocessor and computer-based automation equipment used in most modern manufacturing facilities from the types of dirty power that we now know comprise 96% of all power quality issues. OUR PRESENT : Today, SoftSwitching Technologies offers the most affordable, effective and scalable power quality and monitoring solutions available on the market. In addition to our scalable family of battery free UPS products call DySC, we also have the only comprehensive coast-to-coast power monitoring network in the United States, called the I-Grid. With more than a thousand monitors connected to the Internet, the I-Grid provides a detailed, objective and time-stamped analysis of the entire power grid that has never before been available. Using I-Grid data, we can now demonstrate the occurrence of widespread power quality events – even if that source is hundreds of miles away. I-Grid data also helps manufacturers diagnose unsolved downtime mysteries. Armed with the power of this new knowledge, manufacturers can take steps to protect themselves against future unscheduled downtime. SoftSwitching Technologies -- headquartered in Middleton, just outside Madison, Wisconsin -- currently employs over 40 people and serves major manufacturing customers and utility companies all over the world. Key customers include both middle market firms and blue chip companies such as BMW, General Motors, Applied Materials, Motorola, Kodak, and Anheuser Busch.
